Hanging Food Bag

On the rare occasions that I hang my food bag, I usually just clip the drawstring to the bearbag line...but I always worry that it'll rain, and the rain will come into the opening b/c it's not only facing the sky, but the water will drip down the line and right into the bag. So I made a silnylon bag with a strap on the bottom to hang from, and a collar that folds up inside the bag when the drawstring is tightened

It weighs 1-3/8 oz (40 g).

Hanging Food Bag
	I made a collar to twist and fold down inside the bag when I hang it. This will reduce the stress on the drawstring from the weight of the food (since it's hanging upside down), and will increase the water resistance. I put the drawstring channel inside the bag...here you can see where the drawcord exits thru an opening where the collar meets the bag.

	Here's a view of the closed up stuffsack. It doesn't get any more exciting than this.
	I squared off the bottom, then sewed some webbing to the two flaps. The biner goes on this strap so the bags hangs upside down, hopefully keeping most of the water out. Those are the pictures above. All I had available was Ed Speer's webbing, so it's much bulkier (and stronger) than it needs to be. It's a little too wide and stiff for the mini-biner, so I folded it in half and put a stitch in it...should make it easier to use.
	And here it is in action. I told you...it doesn't get more exciting than this!
	Here's another version...this is the stuffsack Speer Hammocks sent with the PeaPod. It just has the grosgrain sewn into the square bottom of the stuffsack. It would hang well as a food bag, but I'm not sure it would stand up to that weight over time...just not what it was designed for.
